See what we learned about Micaela from our brief questionnaire:
MBS : Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is one of your unique qualities?
Micaela : When I started pole dancing, it was right after I published my first book of poems. I was looking for a new creative outlet to try, something completely out of my comfort zone. Poetry & pole dancing have a lot more in common that I realized. Putting together different tricks and transitions for a routine gives me the same sense of accomplishment as arranging words and syllables into a poem. I enjoy most forms of artistic expression, but poetry and pole dancing are definitely my two favorites.
MBS : How did you find My Body Shop?
Micaela : My friends chose My Body Shop to host my bachelorette party. Sunny was our instructor. We did some chair dancing, floor work, and then finally got to play on the poles. I had so much fun and could tell that the studio was a positive environment. Two months after that, I started attending sessions regularly. Now I'm in the studio at least once a week!
MBS : What are some of your favorite things about the studio?
Micaela: My favorite thing about My Body Shop is the instructors. I've taken classes with Sunny, Curvy, Kitty, Courtney, Colleen, Plumb, and Yatty Matty. No matter who is teaching, it's always the same quality of workout and positive vibes. They genuinely want to see you achieve all of your pole goals.
MBS : How has My Body Shop helped you?
Micaela: My Body Shop has helped me make new friends and feel more confident. My physical and mental health has seen a bunch of benefits since sticking with the sport, and I think a lot of that comes from knowing that if I am having a tough week, I can at least look forward to going to the studio and practicing some new moves.
Thanks for reading! See you next month. Oh, and if you would like to be featured find out how from Yatty Matty!
